Just bought myself a compression testing kit.

Checked the compression on my TS1 - 225 just to see how the kit works and measured 100psi - kicked engine over three or four times to get to the 100 and that was the max I could register.

Does 100psi sound about right?

Cheers

Scott

Not many TS1's around these parts - maybe some of the chaps on here can share their readings ;)

When you did the test did you hold the throttle wide open? If not do it again and hold it open!

Yup, just done another, throttle open, exactly the same, bang on 100psi - so still none the wiser. Is it too low?

If the gauge was a cheep one off ebay then I wouldn't be too sure of its accuracy tbh. What does the pedal pressure feel like@ should be quite a firm kick needed. What does it run like? good starter? clean plug? 100PSI is low, if it's got some miles on it maybe some new rings are required.

I checked the compression on mine after it seized up last year and I think that was about 100PSI and I could feel the compression had gone when I kicked it over. A strip down revealed stuck rings and damage to the lining.

I know it's a completely different animal but my 175 conversion was 145psi when I first built it, after I seized it and honed the bore it was down to 125psi. When I seized it again it was down to 75psi which wasn't enough compression to start it.
