I know it's a big place where you are, but aren't there any other scooterists that could help you out?

I took off the petrol cap and gave it a run. I couldn't get it to play up but the noise from the mag side still sounds a bit rough but they all rattle about a bit :(

If the pressure plate area was leaking air wouldn't it also burn engine oil?

The spark plug colour is good.

if you have an air leak it will cause problems, the main one being you will melt your piston if you ride it long, or hard enough, air leaks also give other symptoms, erratic tickover, sometimes stalling, but sometimes the revs will not drop correctly when you shut the throttle, i would suggest you do a leakdown test, if you have an air leak it will be very obvious, could easy be the best money you ever spend, its already been sugested by others, it will narrow down your search to whats causing your problem, a plugchop might give you an idea of your mixture but wont tell you about a leak, thats what i would do if i was you, i suspect others would agree.

If you mean the plate that holds the main engine oil seal,it would burn gearbox oil.

Update.

Air leak test good.

I had some grease coming into the stator area and I always wondered if I got the mag bearing in properly. Anyway, I put a new mag bearing in, seals, gasket and even a new BGM Stator. Took it for a run, exactly the same. The only things left now are the crank, flywheel and fuel tap. I changed the fuel tap and that bloody sorted it!!!
