Hi guys
I have just fitted a SIP fast flow tap into my PX and I am having a problem with it leaking slightly.
When it is in any of the 3 positions ( off - on - reserve ) it seems fine but when it is being turned between on and reserve it seems to momentarily leak as it moves between the two positions. A fuel leak of any kind is a bad thing and a leak, no matter how small, seems like a bad idea inside a vespa frame.
Have any of you with a SIP tap had this problem - if so how did you fix it ? Or did the issue go away once the rubber swelled with fuel in the tap ?

Hi, this seems to be a reoccurring problem, i had 2 which leaked, tightening the 2 screws just makes it worse so i assume it is the inner seal at fault.
I returned one but gave up and swapped to the BGM one, never had another issue.
Disappointed as i always use SIP and their products are usually top class, if you google you will find many similar cases but many happy customers so an intermittent fault.

I bought one of these and found that although the first one didn`t`t leak in any position or as it was turning, it did leak when I was fitting it back in the frame. Any small amount of pressure on the lever to get it through the frame hole would result in fuel p1551ing out of the rubber seal but once in position it was fine, I`ve got a cutout in the frame for cooling pipes so luckily I can see the tap when its in position. The other point is that there is pipe that projects from the filter to a point high in the tank, I presumed it was a vent but even when the tap is in the off position, fuel can flow down this pipe bypass the tap and out of the fuel line. This is a pain when the tank is full because the `vent` pipe is some way short of the top of the tank. Found this out the hard way when jet changing!!!
Never one to learn from my mistakes, I bought another tap for my next project and I`ve got a couple of ideas to resolve the above issues just need to test them. Failing that I`ll try the BGM one.

I've got one on a vespa smallframe and I've seen exactly the same as above, it's never off and leaks if any pressure applied. This seems commonplace from what I've read and my feeling is they're just rather generally crap, but good enough once in place and left alone.
