Surely there are options to charge your phone as you travel?

My windows phone is flipping huge: even my wife can read hers.

I use one on the iphone, cost about £7? Mounted to the hydraulic reservoir

Skobbler by Scout is what you'd need to search for, i assume its available for android. And the holder for the phone just slips right off, just as easy as a dedicated satnav.

Donnie, like the idea of mounting on the reservoir. How waterproof is the case and how easy is the screen to use through the plastic?

Completely waterproof any time ive been out in the rain, not had an issue. Screen can be used through the plastic no problem, of course you have to take off the motorbike gloves but to be fair, once the routes in and im on the bike I dont need to touch it anyway.

Only prob using phone is battery life etc as the first leg is 200 + miles and my eyes ain't the best these days so prefer a big screen

Battery lifes not an issue as I charge as i go as there's a fag lighter socket in the toolbox so i simply use a usb charger, never a problem.

As above and yes, mines an iphone 6s so more than big enough and my eyes aint the best, thats why I have contacts and glasses though and dont rely on things being big.

Ducksta I might have one of those sat nav covers if your interested. Personally I think they're crap, water can penetrate , they can mist up and also can be difficult to read and change. I bought a Garmin waterproof bike Sat Nav last year. Not cheap but it's the bolloxs. Not looking for any money.

How about carrying the phone in your pocket and using a bluetooth earpiece to hear the directions. Anyone tried that? Admittedly it's easy to look at a screen, but not as safe on a bike as in a car

You just need some form of DC charging capability and connect to you phone via a sub socket. Trip like that you need to be able to keep your phone charged anyway. Any satnav is going to need DC.

phone apps good satnavs better garmin or tomtom; wotever ya choose you need dc to charge it
