I kept a reasonably accurate costing for the li rebuild /restoration I did a couple of years back.
Nothing special, but anything that wasn't immaculate was replaced with quality replacement or plated etc.
Engine spec was gt186 with mec eur crank.
Blasting, welding and painting all came to about £1200.
I did the engine build and all assembly work.
It still came to around £8000!
I think I made some poor decisions as it was my first Lambretta build, but let's guess at 10% wastage.
There's a very clear lesson here.........don't keep records.
Lambretta strip and rebuild.

Yes shocking isn't it? Must admit I wasn't prepared for the "spend" when I rebuilt my wreck last winter, all I can say is it's a good job I'm not a peasant!

Aye, it's on its third barrel now, which is coming off tomorrow for Chris sturgess' attention. Leggies and mudguard going for respray (due to me putting wrong badges on). New front hub backplate and new rear hub while I'm on.garry inglis wrote:hendy i agree with the wastage we buy some crap plus when its finished you start again putting better stuff on which you should have got in the first place paying twice lol but hey we love these scoots
Seems to me that it never ends.
One day I may see sense. Unlikely.

I think you're probably looking at 80 hours for labour, by someoene who knows what they're doing and doesn't hit any problems, in order to to strip and rebuild. Cost will depend on the hourly rate + VAT.
