I am fitting short runner boards and slightly cutting side panels. Question being. Is it better to leave rear struts for side panel support, leave partly or just get rid completely. I am not bothered about fitting rear foot pegs. :?:

Im just in the middle of fitting shorter footboards and cutting the sidepanels as well.
The rear struts will only Support the panels if you dont cut the Panels out over the rubber stops on the rear struts.
Imo if your not planning on fitting rear pegs or your panels are cut above the rubber blocks on the frame Struts, Id cut them off.
Dont forget to leave the bit at the top on were the tank straps fit and it might be worth welding some strengthining plates around the inside of your sidepanels where youve cut them down.

How are you finishing off the bottoms of your panels, do you have them turned over or fit a rubber edging. The tank shouldn't be an issue as fitting Oiltek one which doesn't use straps

Im putting a lip on the panel edges like on the Standard ones.
I need to have a smooth edge on them to conform with the German TÜV Regulation....no sharp edges, or rubber strips allowed.
Should be fun getting everything changed in my Scooter docs as the frame loop will also be removable

Sure is a lot easier here, you can virtually do what you like within reason. I was thinking of getting some small diameter round bar and having it braised round

Was Bad enough getting the engine mods onto my docs, should be a bit easier with the bodywork changes.
