I'll take the photos on Saturday but if you imagine Ross' set up but with the plastic waste pipe bend (mine is a lot shorter) the filter angles into the gap in front of the rear strut and doesn't therefore get blocked by the panel.

if the 90 degree rubber is pushed in by the panel a little it neednt cause a running problem as long as it doesnt collapse and choke the carbs bellmouth ,,,to prevent this an old silicone tube or grease tube fits perfectly and can be cut to shape and slid into the rubber to retain an acceptable shape which when pressed by the panel forms an oval that still breathes freely

Darrel, that my fried is what is known as FGI, thank you. I had been thinking, if the rubber bend squashes but doesn't cut the overall area I.e. Shape goes oval then flow per sec stays same. Anyway the plot thickens, fookin thing nipped up A1 going to Cadwell so first things first, need to get barell honed, so intend to send off to Oiltek and get second option after Brid

Coaster many thanks for the pics. What is squashing on mine is the rubber elbow not the foam filter. I can see yours is further back referencing the runners, mine is further out over the top of the inner runner. It must be that the atomic reed valve is longer than standard manifold

Mine has also has an Atomic reed valve but it's the Ultimate version, don't know if there is any difference in the protrusion Also as mentioned, my rubber isn't symmetrical, it can be reversed so that the mounting faces backwards slightly which helps. My rubber is held on with 4 allen bolts, I thing the smaller RS manifold has only 2?

My panel pushes the filter off the rubber elbow. I've cured this by drilling a screw through both filter and hose where the hose clip goes, and it works..

be careful of losing the screw though ,,, a drop of superglue at 4 points is less damaging being sucked thru the motor

I had thought of that thanks, screw has quite a big head..... Does drilling a drain hole in the elbow cause any issues?
