Hi Probaly a daft question but I think ive set up the speedo correctly does the fuel gauge show all white sections if full and each white section go out as it empties if you know what I mean

No, you should ride with the tap set on reserve and when the fuel level reaches the reserve the mileage readout will flash alternate with 'FUEL'. So there is no actual indicator of what's in the tank.
