hi, my pal has a 125 special with a tuned 175 gori kit and a rayspeed clubman, he altered the gearing by fitting an 18 front spocket and a 47 basket which gives final drive ratio of 5.1, it pulls this gearing easy and it does scream its nads off in top gear, i think he should re-fit his old 46 basket to alter the ratio to 5.2 , its not a big change in ratio , what would you do ?

That's working in the wrong directions, i.e. LI150 = 5.2, TV175 = 4.8, TV200 = 4.4, so if it is already pulling 5.1 well then going to 5.2 is just going to make it rev even harder.

After changing my LI125 with 175 iron conversion to 46/16 it gust Dident seem right so instead of taking a gamble on a 17 tooth front sprocket I went to an 18 so now 46/18 I'm about 15 stone and it's great. When I go out with the other guys for a ride out I just sit in top ticking over and use next to no fuel compared with the others, works for me, I am running a pacemaker gearbox though so slightly closer ratios
