Screw one long cylinder head nut to each of the studs on the inside legshield spare wheel carrier and mount the SIP rim using short M8 (13mm spanner size) bolts screwed through the rim into the other end of the long nuts. I find it best to use flat washers under the head of the bolts otherwise they want to chew into the recess in the rim.

Don't know about the oil carrier though.
^ This, I had the same issue with my rear flat carrier along with one of Keith Newman's large sprint racks that bolts onto it. I did see another scooter at Shipston at the weekend that had used the same solution on their leg shield spare wheel carrier.
