Thinking of an upgrade to my 1964 Li150, possible a Casa Lambretta 185 kit. It seems to be pretty simple conversion that doesn't require stripping the engine case, just the cylinder and piston changeover (Am I right about this?).
I'm out in Hong Kong with limited specialist knowledge and/or tools so I am trying to keep it fairly simple.
Any advice welcome.

If you increase your engine capacity and tune, you will need to modify or replace the carburation. Replacing the barrel is easy, but the carburation is another matter. You'll need to decide whether you're going to keep the existing system (through the airbox), and the existing carb. You'll have to change the jetting in your carburettor no matter what, and that can take some fiddling.
If you keep the existing 18mm carb, you're not really maximising the potential of that kit. My advice is to buy your kit from a good dealer that can give you plenty of advice rather than an online deal with no backup.
I have a 175 stage 4 tune with a big bore exhaust running a 20mm carb through the airbox. It took ages to sort the jetting, but I'm happy with it's performance. It keeps up with my mates new vespa and that's good enough for me.

I'm running 2 Casa 185 kits in seperate scooters,both run through a drilled airbox,42mm exhausts and jetex carbs.
pilot jet is the standard 45 (I've tried larger but both neither will run right )
main jet-125
standard atomiser
Both run standard 50 choke jets

I agree with the above. Regarding tools and knowledge, I recommend joining the Lambretta Club HK. They have a small workshop unit where you can do the conversion, and will also be able to give you advice.

I don't know what the availability of parts is like in your part of the world, but rather than spend money on a new kit you could consider having your barrel rebored to 175 and the head reprofiled.

That's exactly why the Casa 185 kit was produced. Bolt on using existing carb, exhaust, crank, etc. Very slight power increase but a much more reliable kit. Once fitted it would be prudent to increase the main jet, due to the extra cc and do some plug checks.

I know a lot of guys who ride with our crowd have Casa 185 kits. Bolt on and go. Best value uncomplicated; unfussy kit at that price.
Would benefit from a 22mm carb and AF Clubman exhaust but that could come later as long as for the time being you upjet your existing carb and check the spark plug to ensure the mixture is correct. (Research plug chops)

Not sure if it was just a coincidence but a thousand or so km after fitting a Casa kit, my standard LI crank gave up the ghost, taking the kit with it. Replaced the crank with a DL one and fitted a BGM 195. Fingers crossed, but no problems so far.
