Lambretta J50 Deluxe with Jollymoto pipe

Hi All. I today installed a jolly moto pipe on my J50 which I had recently done the following upgrades:

X1 75cc kit- Casa Lambretta Parmakit
X14 Carburetor : SHB 19/19 carb - Dell’Orto
X28 13T Front Sprocket - DRT Racing
X168 Close-Ratio gear cluster 18T 3rd gear - DRT Racing
M141za 75 link chain G67WZ x 75e - IWIS
X42 big bore exhaust - Casa Lambretta

Well I took of the big bore exhaust and installed the jollymoto pipe but have run into a problem: The back wheel is rubbing the pipe. The tires are 3.00 x 10.





Has anyone else done this pipe? I absolutely put it on correctly. Did I get one made wrong, or is there a fix? Any ideas?

Is it rubbing on the wheel or tyre , originally the j50 had a 9inch wheel ,wether the exhaust was designed to fit around the smaller wheel , where did you get the exhaust from as if you do get it to fit I maybe interested in buying one .

Tire is rubbing. I know the J50 had 9 inch wheels, but it's also for the LUI which has 10" and video of a J50 super with one on youtube which also has 10". It's rubbing at a point that both a 9 inch and 10 inch would foul. I bought it from an American distributor from Jollymoto.

hi, looks like a nice exhaust, but i would contact the seller and see what they have to say, i know its not a good solution but you could heat it up and tap it in a bit to create some clearance around the tyre.

Could you fit spacers under the mag bracket to move the pipe out? How is the pipe fastened to the bracket?

I'm going to try to put washers under the bolts that hold the bracket to the flywheel case which should pull outward. If that doesn't work, I will put the upper bracket on differently. Will try tonight.

There is no way to get the exhaust not to rub the tire without having to dent the exhaust or reshape it somehow. You can't pull it out with spacers on the bracket. The exhaust pipe is quite snug against the mag flange housing and cannot be spaced to not rub the tire at that point.

On youtube, there is a video showing a guys J50 w/ the exhaust. I found you can see what appears to be a dent in the pipe to get tire clearance. (still picture below) I plan to bring this up with the distributor to relay to Jollymoto. Will post more updates.

I bought one for my Lui......
same as you , no way it would fit without rubbing the tyre..
or the frame on the Lui...
I did heat and bend it,,,,not great as it was hard to do
it's now pushed out further, and I modified the mounting bracket
no chance of it fitting a j range with panels
I'll see if I can add a photo tomorrow...
should of sent it back really...

can't remember if my manifold was as bad as yours...
mine got a bit bent from the bending to miss the frame...
you've got no choice but to dent the pipe or send it back..
it does sound good...but I've only ridden mine up and down the garden....a few bits to finish and the register
not good for near on £300
