semi hydraulic front brake
got one fitted to a series 2. but it 's less effective than the original drum brake. the cable has been adjusted but still the same. are they all like this?
i was always under impression that these conversions were s**t they used to be used on vespas and they were a waste of time then

My semi hydraulic front brake is coming off and is being replaced by a fully hydraulic system as i can't get it to work, the cable stretches and the slave cylinder hits the horn casting on my series 3 and the system wouldn't top it's self up.

cezeta has given me a polished master cylinder and i will get Mb to do the slave conversion

I couldn't agree more chaps. They are a bitch to fit and then they work about as well as a cable, at the end of the day. I had mine on my series2 for a few weeks, but i could not take the stress of trying to stop in less than a nautical mile any longer. I have a hydraulic master cylinder on the headset now. Its a little bit ugly, but better than rear-ending a vauxhall viva and hospital food......
I don't want to keep up with modern traffic. I want to hoon past it, preferably on one wheel!
I use one on my DL works great. better than the disk or drum
Made my own bracket/plate & sunk the master into the bracket plate so it clears
the horn casing.
The bracket bolts onto the where the horn goes & to the bracket that holds the legsheild above.
Horn bolts into the normal place holding it down.

so the problem could be the type/make of slave cylinder used

The one off a typhoon works best, got two fitted to my scoots and both work well i'd say about 90% of a fully hydrolic one. I guess its in your set up that wrong. You must check the bore of the slave piston as if its bigger than 11mm you will get i very sharp brake and under 10 not enought fluid gets pushed each stroke.
