With regards to these kits we have pulled the last batch as the ports were way out. the exhaust port sits approx. 3 mm low and the top ring is visible at bottom of the stroke, these kits have got gradually worse so we have been looking at other options. other problems were the combustion chamber in the head was not central to the bore, again we use to rectify this by skimming the face and re-profiling the head but with the last batch I was unable to get it right as there was insufficient material on the face

I have some cast iron 185 barrels coming in and these will be paired with a GOL race piston and an Italian head. we have had one on test now for about 3 months without issues .They are not in the same league as the muggello or the casa kits, but are far better than the Indian alloy ones. should be around the £190 mark

Thanks
Antony

Yeah, I've had such great hope for these kits, but they're getting worse, depending on where you're getting them from. The one thing is that they seem to be using the same liner, just cast wrong, which means all of the ports are off in the same relationship. I have a barrel just like the one you described, and it'll end up just fine with a packing plate and machining off the top to put everything back in order. And the bore is too tight....and the ports are terrible...and the head is garbage.

If you're ever gonna do one of these kits, you have to include the cost of fixing them into the purchase price.

I'd be interested in a cast iron 185 for the chop. Any idea what the porting will be like?

you could try one of these and do a little bit of porting yourself, or get someone to do it for you
