LAMBRETTA GP200 TYRES

Hi, i am thinking about getting a set of white walled tyres for my GP200, could anyone tell me if they are easy to fit, or could you take them to a garage for them to do it. i was thinking of somewhere like quick fit.

I wouldn't advise using a car tyre fitter for Lambretta rims. They won't know the first thing about split rims or tubes, go to a proper scooter shop if you value your safety. Or just do it yourself, it isn't difficult and you can make sure you are using the correct offset valved tubes.

Easy to fit but a bugger to keep white.

Tyres are easy to fit, it's the tubes that are a bugger to fit. They're very easy to trap when fitting the 2 halves of the rim together. The more you pre-inflate the tube then the less likely you are to trap it but it makes it harder to bolt the 2 halves together. Life would be easier if the rim manufacturers would fit them with longer studs and a warning not to use dome nuts with them.
Whitewall tyres are no easier or harder to fit than Blackwall tyres.

I put enough air in for the tube to be firm and leave a gap in the rim wide enough to gat a 12ins steel rule in and using the rounded end (most steel rules have one end square and the other rounded) go around the gap pushing the tube in. Not failed with me, yet!

Alternately stock up on Magnum's and use the stick. Vanilla or chocolate work equally well.
