Good afternoon all,

Fitted a new af close ratio gearbox, all is shimmed up properly and buttoned up. Trying to set the clutch is a bit of a mare, it is engaging (enough to push kickstart down with no engagement) but when I try to ride it clunks into first gear and stalls. Using a pair of mole grips to try and engage clutch to set it, I can feel that it is being stopped from going fully in. When I was putting the clutch back on I noticed that the news Xmas tree was coming through the bolt about 5mm more than it did with the GP tree, the bolt used to sit flush with the top of the tree. So I can only imagine that the compression plate is being stopped by the new tree.

So, the answer? Do I need to cut off the protruding part of the tree???

Seems the only option? Not too happy about having to chop a brand new Xmas tree though

Took side off and it was more like 1.5.mm than 5  took the protruding part off with the trusty dremel and putting side on, feels better straight away, using the grips I can pull the lever and it feels like it's engaging properly.
