just back from Elvington airfield where straightliners have a top speed event today and tomorrow (sat and sun).
Jimmy Winter was there running his full bodied super monza and Eric riding Darrels full bodied and a special treat was Eric riding Frank Osgerbys sprinter with one of their engines. There was a strong side sometimes head wind , Eric managed a 101mph on the Darrels bike and was struggling with the wind catching the fairing on Franks sprinter and did just under the 100 mph and this was the first time he had ridden the bike, Jimmy did a couple of runs over 104mph then beat his best (i think) with a 105.3 mph. Tomorrow is looking at being a better day with the wind dropping , anyone fanny going you will find an array of vehicles including the worlds fastest shed , a couple of jet powered cars / bikes and modern to classic bikes , its £10 to get in.
Elvington top speed today
