Cracking on nicely

Nice project. Great that you do blasting and paintwork by yourself.
Have you got the headset repaired ? A good alloy welder should be able to repair it.

I can mig weld but don't trust myself to attempt alloy welding. Also finding a welder that knows how to repair Lammy parts with finesse is tricky. I decided to do a repair with liquid metal instead. I cut the cracks with a hacksaw to relieve the stress and shaped a thin piece of aluminium to the inside of the headset. By this time the piece at the end had also snapped off as I relieved the crack. Using the liquid metal I stuck and clamped the piece I shaped on the inside. Once that set I stuck and clamped the part that had broken off using the screwed down top to make sure it all lined up. I then filled the gap between with another piece of ally plate and more liquid metal. It all went together well and is very strong. Maybe not the best way to repair it but it's strong and once filled will look good enough as to not notice. I just need to re weld the gear side tube and it's all good.

At this rate it'll soon be finished
good work mate

Very nice work indeed. I like the headset repair, chemical repair is under rated. We glue F1 car parts together, a lot stronger than weld in that situation. Keep the pictures coming.
