My lower steering bearing track is an easy push fit on the fork stem and can be rotated by hand. Assume I end to lock this in place with loctite or something stronger?
On the other hand the lower scootrs stainless dust cover that goes below the bearing track won't push into position and probably isn't going to go on without a good bit of force- is this normal?
Thanks in advance
Tippo

Check the dish centre is slightly bigger than the fork boss as there's a radius and that the rebate sits over the cast part. As for the track use a centre dot punch around the forks then use bearing fit Loctite.
Thanks! Just to be sure is the hole in the dust cover supposed to be bigger than the OD of the lower bearing track? Mine is slightly smaller as per photo.
The cast fork top has a rebate round the outside which the dust cover would fit it but the rebate looks like it's shallower than the the thickness of the dust cover which would mean that the lower bearing track would be sitting on the dust cover rather than on the actual fork unless I make the hole in the dust cover larger.
Hope this description makes sense!

Thanks! ID of dust cover almost 2mm smaller than OD of top of forks. After a fair bit of time with a dremel and some brute force still couldn't get it to fit so have binned it and ordered on from MB. Fingers crossed it arrives especially quickly and fits.

Check fitment of the MB as well, last set I fitted the dust cover did't fit fully over the bearing track, and didn't allow the track to go fully home in the frame.tippo88 wrote:Thanks! Wish I had checked first as I thought my forks had shrunk 5mm
Thanks for the warning. You wouldn't think these would be so hard to make correctly. The Scootrs top section is fine, bottom piece hopeless

Sorry if I have missunderstood your explanation, but the dust cover isn't supposed to go over the bearing track. The cover fits onto the forks dished side down and then the track is fitted, trapping the cover.

More than likely me that got the wrong end of the forkHxPaul wrote:lambro wrote:Check fitment of the MB as well, last set I fitted the dust cover did't fit fully over the bearing track, and didn't allow the track to go fully home in the frame.tippo88 wrote:Thanks! I had trouble with the one that goes on the bearing track in the lower steering, before you fit it in the frame.
Shaun.
