Hi all, how easy is it to change the studs ( square type ) on original Innocenti wheel rims? I've snapped two on a rim. As they are the best rims you can get I'd like to repair rather than replace. Thanks in advance Pete.

I've seen some held tight by blobs of weld, but I suspect most people don't bother. You can get the studs, but you must have to force them in there somehow to get them to stay. I can't see any other way of holding them.

They are press fit from the factory. So if you have snapped a couple you need to knock out the remnant piece and press in a new stud.

Studs can be purchased from your favorite dealer usually. The problem is (like DP just said) once the stud has come loose the hole is now opened up. The new stud won't stay put. You'll need to have it welded.

If you are snapping studs on an original italian rim I'd start thinking about a new rim. The metal is starting to fatigue and by this point in time I doubt it's perfectly round any more.

With hindsight, you are probably correct. I'll get some new ones, thanks for that Pete.

Scootopia rims are probably the best of both worlds if you want a rim that's as original.
