Hi, I am looking for opinions on 185 kits for li125. I'm pretty new to all this so would be good to get opinions on the various ones on the market. Looked at the SR and mugello ones aswell as the casa

Get a genuine TV175 cylinder and a 64mm thin ring piston. Bore the cylinder to accept the piston and get a "186' head (64mm).
Cheap with a far amount of extra poke for not a lot of cash.

As said depends what you want to pay and also what you want it for.....touring, round town, "boy racer", 2-up, etc.
bearing in mind you are only half way there if you get a decent kit.....new crank, exhaust, carb, clutch,etc

This question gets asked several times a week and you will get the same responses. All depends on what you want out of the kit and what your budget is, plenty of good kits out there; GT, Mugello, Casa, RT, Imola, RB and some cheaper alloy kits. It's not just about the kit either, you also need to consider what else you need to upgrade to get the best out of them; exhaust, carb, crank, gearing, etc.
My personal opinion? GT186, 60/110 crank...the rest depends on what you want the kit to do.

Based on my recent experience I would stay away from the SR kits. Mine needed loads of work to get the port timing correct (ish), the cylinder head needed machining and then when I did a leak down test the cylinder itself leaked like a sieve. Luckily I have access to good and low cost engineering services to help otherwise it would have ended up in the bin

Hi all
Just thought I'd put my two Penneth worth in.
I'm running a GT 186 kit with a porcupine head , 30 mm delly , MB / BGM pipe , race crank gives some of the standard TS1 boys a run for their money at times lol. Point is that kind of set up as stated with any of the pokey aftermarket kits is going to cost at least £1000 . My mates running his li 125 with a bored out 150 to 175 , decent head all tolerances checked an li crank with an AF clubman , sil stator runs lovely . It will 65 at push but will run at 55-60 he did the whole thing for about £400 SR kits I've had one from a bloke on EBay that cleans them up tolerances etc = 185cc it went really well casting well I had to retap the studs because the casting and alloy wasn't great but it did go well for the money I only used it to commute around town .

Thanks for all your responses. Like I said I'm new to all this so what I want from it now may change in a years time but all I really want is something that's as reliable as possible (if that's even possible) interesting to stay away from SR, GT is the general consensus. Il be running an af clubman exhaust and replacing the crank. Cheers all

Bear in mind that if you replace the crank you'd be better off with the GP taper type and that involves a change of flywheel. Then you'd probably want to change to electronic ignition - and so it goes
