What Apps / websites is everyone using when planning routes?
I'm talking about a few days touring not google maps to get you to the seaside!!
I've got a few apps (Pirelli Diablo, Realrider, ibiker) but most of them just record the ride you're doing and don't let you plan a route

You mentioned the one that most people use, Google Maps. Not saying it's better or worse than others, but it's omni-present, therefore gets the most use.

Yeah, ideally I'm looking for something where you can plan the whole route over several days all together, split into smaller daily rides (with google maps you'd need to do these individually) so that you I can work out daily distance, good places to stop etc. But still have the whole trip info avaialble as well..............might have to resort to a paper map!

I use the NavFree app UK & ROI app on my phone. It's a GPS app that has all the maps on your phone so you don't need any internet connection. Works well, but whether it's any good for planning... I don't know. It's good for not getting lost, and tells you where the petrol stations are.

Cheers for both of those.
Both look ideal, where we're planning to go there won't be much internet so the freenav will be handy for that.

Sites like UKGSer and ADVrider both have dedicated GPS/navigation/route planning tools forums.
The ADV site has had several members write apps specifically for what you ask. They look really comprehensive and sophisticated to me.
AFAIK, you can access the relevant sections without signing up.
For planning, a glegg on a map to give me a rough direction to head in, then I just wander about and get lost. Then I have CoPilot - it's really a garmin type clone app for for getting unlost. Fits on a phone or tablet.
The tablet is better because you can watch downloaded iplayer stuff on the ferry, or use as an ereader in my hammock on a warm southern French campsite (that may work elsewhere).
MsWarts has a kindle account so I can also down load new books as required.
