Got a couple of jobs done over the weekend that I wasn't looking forward to. First was fitting the silent blocks (SIL) as I was scared of breaking a mount, but it all turned out ok. Drive side went in nicely on the first attempt but the mag side took a couple of goes before things lined up correctly. Heat is definitely the key here, even applying more during the fitting.
The other thing was chopping the gearbox endplate.
Before:
And After:
As with most things after actually doing it and then looking back, it wasn't so bad but glad to get them done. Also fitted the bearing track on the end-plate but then decided I could no longer work in the mess I have created in the garage so having a bit of a clear up before doing anything else.

A couple more steps forward, I think it will be a while before I can post anything as exciting as the initial machining. Porting is now done:
Rear bearing & layshaft are in:
And I tried the knob jockeys brake kit, here's a picture as it was mentioned elsewhere recently:
The cam on the left side has side-to-side movement that allows the adjustment. It comes with two, one larger than the other, but I don't know what governs which one you chose.
So I think the next step is to start pinching bits from my series 2 engine. I'm using the lose gears & christmas tree & will also look at using the selector wishbone as the one I purchased is useless (no reply from SR yet, but it's only the first day back after the public holiday). Trying to keep borrowed parts to a minimum. Oh, and also taking the kickstart mechanism, but wondering if this is a mistake using the original on a higher compression engine.
Cheers,
George.

Which cam you choose is dependant on whether you have an Li or a GP brake cam fitted

Eden, yes mag is done as well.
Rosscla, thanks for the tip. I see on the fitting instructions it says the larger pivot is to be used for the GP cam.
