Hi.
Can you tell me what do you think about the AF RB crankshaft?
I have this one waiting for a RB20 project and i am hearing things about AF cranks, that they twist, .....
Is the one that they sell for 195pounds.
I want to use this crank for a standard RB20, i dont want to tune it.
Thanks!

ID SAY GET SOMEONE LIKE READSPEED,TAFFSPEED,JB TUNING OR HARRY BARLOW TO DO YOU ONE FROM INDIAN CRANK WEBS WONT LOOK AS PRETTY BUT WILL NOT TWIST (UNLESS YOU DO SOMETHING STUPID) ,MOST WELD THERES OR IF YOUR REALLY FLUSH AN MB ALPHA CRANK

I spoke to John from Grampian motors a long while ago, he told me that all standard Lambretta crank pins when fitted to a Lambretta crank were never as tight a fit as if a Japanese pin is used in its place... He told me the clearance tolerance was machined into the pin and the Jap big end pins always ran a tighter interferance fit... Problem is if you use a pin thats too tight the crank webbs can be damaged on assembly... too loose and it twists... Up to now I have not found a crank pin thats the right length thats a direct replacement...

I agree with Jackpot,I think we've gone thru 9 between us.Even after he had one supposedly repaired with new, stronger pin and uprated bearings!!
I do not try to explain why I ride Lambrettas,
For those who understand, no explanation is necessary,
For those who don't, no explantion is possible.

I use Indian webs with RB spec bearing and rod in my standard GP and a AF RB race crank in my RB225......no problems with either.
I also raced for years using the same cranks that you buy over the counter,i had a rod let go once in spectacular fashion but apart from that they were fine.I always trued them back up after the first time they were ran and i cant recall having to do it again after the first meeting of the year.I used one crank per season and at the end of the season the crank usually went into a road motor.
I remember stripping the Group 4 at cadwell once and some tit in a parka with who and mod and i love scooters i do badges asked me what crank it was........he then went on to tell me that it was no good and i should do this and that and it would go better........i then explained that as i had just won the last race i would take a chance and carry on regardless of his expert advice and thanked him warmly for sharing his vast warehouse of knowledge with me.
I saw him riding off a bit later on.......on a PX125 with L plates.......
