I have a JB tuning lightened flywheel, it has its fins machined off and a plastic set attached. It has no arrow to use for timing purposes. Do I simply draw an arrow on it or does the the flywheel have a fire point set where the arrow should be?

Yes , anywhere you fancy. It's an arbitrary mark to indicate TDC and the firing point.

My markings are around the mag a bit, but the usual area has more notches than a teenagers headboard
