As stated at the end of my original post,i am now suffering from 'tyre paranoia'.
I dont remember ever being unsure of the credibility of the tyres I was fitting to my scooters.
Ok,there were the 'Cheng Shin sliders',and the fabled 'Deadly Dunlops',but they were always fit for purpose, just not what you would be wanting to be underneath you whilst cornering at full pelt in the wet!!
Over the years I have had most brands of tyre on my scoots, and depending on the look I was trying to achieve,i have had no real problems.
Performance wise I have mostly opted for the Michelin S1. Classic standard has been either the Michelin S83,or the Continental K62.
It was only a few years ago I finally laid to rest an original Pirelli 'motor scooter' marked tyre which I had fitted to the front wheel of my TV2 for the best part of 20 years. Where has the 'made to last' quality gone?
Perishing rubber!
That was lucky mate. Bloody hell.
Best treat yourself to some nice new rubber
There was guy on Facebook doing some good tyre deals

Just my thoughts, tyre manufacturers spend millions (well the proper ones do) on research and development in the quest to improve their products in terms of grip, wear etc. Most motorcyclists will buy the latest offering when the old ones wear out. Scooterists on the other hand seem to consider what the tyre 'looks' like in equal importance to its ability to grip and carry loads at a decent speed.
I'd say you have been incredibly lucky Kev.

Very nasty kev,
But as stated earlier in thread, Sava whitwalls were s**t 15 years ago, and sadly haven't got any better with age.
Shaun.

In all fairness, the length of time they were in use, they did their job,I'm just wondering if the length of time (4 months) they were stood, had any bearing on the splitting!

I think they were inherently dodgy- there were massive threads on LCGB about 10 years back re this.
Scootering since 1968.
