when I first tried to set mine at17 the stater would not go round far enough only to about 19/20 so I reamed the slots to get 17 once I new it was correct I bought a bgm 120w and that fit great as it has extened slots I have kept the 96w as a spare what a difference to the lights with the 120w stater from bgm
What output is your regulator ? I tried a rebuild bgm on mine with a duccati 80w regulator and wasnt impressed I swapped it for a "swiss" 96w and lights were brighter , then gave up and went full DC with a rebuilt indian stator and small battery now I have propper lights
with no dipping when the large dc horn is applied cost me about 70 quid to go full dc
