I have a set fitted from just lambretta and new hubs front and rear fit was perfect and so far done over 3000 miles never come loose , I thought as much its probably down to poor fitting as described by some posts , im using the nordlock washers and k nuts as supplied by just lambretta

I became paranoid about dome nuts [there are none, apart from the rear hub nut, on my scooter] hence I searched for a different nut to suit the Sip rims and came up with K nuts that fit the recess in the Sip rim and also they do away with the issue caused when running a split rim spare where the Sip dome nuts bottom out on the long studs when using them on split rims. They're obviously 8mm thread but have small heads that require a 10mm socket, as opposed to Sip needing 12mm and std nuts needing 13mm. Don't buy the Nylock ones as they're not the same and won't fit the recess in the Sip rim.
This isn't a recommendation to use them, it's just an insight to what I use on my own scooter.

I lost three of the four on the rear but I put that down to my own incompetence rather than a design flaw. I have learned my lesson and have had no further issues.

My advice for what its worth is that i use the sip rims....however dont just wack them on your scooter without checking fitment first.
I have found that especially on Lambretta rear hubs, when you first install them, take the hub off and fit it to the rim loosely off the scoot. If it fits perfectly and the rim sits comfortably on the hub with no gaps between rim and hub lugs....good to go! Every time i have fitted them though , they are not a perfect fit. A little bit of filing (dressing) to the end of the hub fitting lugs sometimes needs to be done for a perfect fit (rim naturally resting on hub lugs with no gaps).
If its not going on properly i can see it causing issues, oh and i always use a small amount of thread lock on any wheel nuts!

Excellent advice, rims perfect and hubs perfect still doesn't ensure a perfect match of parts.

Also take great care that the washers and nuts sit perfectly in the recess, it's very easy for a nut to catch the shoulder and not be fully seated. Tighten them in sequence like you do with a cylinder head.

These K Nuts sound interesting Martin. A quick Google tells me they are self locking. Would you still use them in conjunction with Nordlock washers, plain washers, or what?

Yes they work in pairs as a ratchet they should come glued together the largest amount of serations go against the wheel rim and the underside of the nut the side with 10 serations go face to face

The studs on my Rally were only long enough to engage about 2 turns of thread. Not exactly confidence inspiring.
