Hi, if youve not done this before i'd ask before you buy. Lots if folk on here and lcgb have learned hard and expensive lessons. Eg; your shiny bits. I've got a pile of s**t in the corner of my garage, i think theres one of those types of springs in amongst them. My counsel would be to look for used parts rather then remade if you can.

When you get a 'complete' kit of anything, it's likely that some bits of it will be fine, and some will be cack. You can't just do one order to SIP/SCK and expect everything to be fine. ie, that spring.

Stand spring goes on so much easier with nearside rear running board off. Bolt the stand and splash plate on and then wear gloves and eyeshields if nervous. Pull the spring into place with mole grips with the stand in the raised riding position.

I put the stand on the frame before attempting to fit the spring and could not get it on at all. I found it easier to fit the spring to the stand and the frame then bolt the stand on.

It didn't move much last year because of all the problems I had with the Vespa. I've got a malossi motor to build for that which I'm hoping to get done as soon as I can and get it running reliably then I can focus on sorting out the last few bits for the GP. I got the original legshields painted and it has run now. My target is to have it ready for Aberfoyle - attempting to be realistic...

Agree with the others. Don't be too tempted by the shiny side. Some of the stainless stuff can be a nightmare to fit.

I had one off those springs that snapped on me at cleethorps last year and could not put the scoot on the stand so propped it up and luckily all the lovely trade stands were there and bought a proper one for £7.50 and what a difference in the thickness and its been no problem
