best fit between BGM and Atomic LED tail light reflector?

which is the best(ish) fit between the two?, yep I know its going to require a small degree of p1551ing about but which is slightly less hassle, oh its for a CEV tail light, cheers Paul

I bought an Atomic LED tail light for my S3 LI I'm rebuilding . Needed some trimming at the edges to get it to fit ok. Atomic said that's unusual and normally fit straight in.

I've fitted both, I don't remember having any problems with either. From memory, the Atomic works on 6v and 12v, AC and DC, whereas I don't think the BGM is as compatible.

I just checked the two different products - with the BGM, you have to choose either a 6v or a 12v version, whereas the Atomic works on both voltages. They both work on AC and DC as far as I can see, so there's not a lot to choose between them. I'd go for whichever you can get at the better price/delivery time.

Google "LED 1157" They work on both AC and DC. If you need to run one on a 6v system then you have other electrical problems going on and the LED lamp won't solve them.

These fit in a standard socket with NO modifications at all and can be purchased at about ANY auto parts store in the world for about 1/2 the price of what the shops sell their board type as.

I think it's great that there are shops coming up with clever solutions to some of these problems but if it were me developing these board lights I'd spend my money elsewhere.

Tried a few of those bulbs with no joy at all, the light works ok but the brake light just flashes - no good and not safe. Yep I run a standard 6v system and have swapped my speedo bulb with a LED replacement which has made a great deal of difference, nothing wrong with my system, fitted a new loom when the bike was rebuilt, flywheel remagnatised, good earth's, connections etc, my lights are pretty good but would like a tad more so I can see the mud and blown down branches while travelling down a dark, wet UK country road at night. Weird. I've had nothing but good luck with them on 12VAC systems.

The 6Vac is a balanced system, so if you have dim lights there is usually an imbalance with the lamps being used. If you know the ground points are good then I would start looking at the connections themselves.

Bright lights are a good thing.

Oh indeed they are no everything is tip-top, tried a couple of LED tail lights with similar results, as its a DC system then I thought it might be fine but alas no, oh well... the lights themselves aren't really dim, just would like a bit more, cheers for the reply Paul

An update - I recently fitted an Atomic into a late-type S2 light unit (the one with the dual-filament bulb, rather than the one with festoon bulbs). It didn't fit without filing all the corner areas of the PCB. Only took 5 minutes, so not a problem, but definitely not a direct fit.
