A lot of gloves are sold as waterproof but not many will stand up to riding at speed for half an hour or so. I have a pair of BMW Motorad gloves which ARE 100% waterproof and have also been using a pair of Turcano Urbano lightweight armoured gloves which were very good at keeping my hands dry but after a year of almost daily use, started to let in water due to the plastic liner failing (still good gloves though). 2 years on I'm still using my armadillo gloves. They ain't as waterproof as they once we're due to the rips on them lol

I've yet to find any good winter gloves that have decent protection in them.
Hein Gerricke race gloves, with the above mentioned goretex overmitts for me.
Oh, and heated grips. Money well spent.
