Is that likely to drop with a significant number of orders?

Brilliant motor and 9k is probably a fair price but you can buy an awful lot with that sort of money and if I had it spare then there would be many things higher up the list than a scooter engine.
Meus Lambretta est non infractus. Is est quietus.
To me your moving to far away from what a scooter is, I love these "classic" scooters with more modern technology than my gts
you end up with a hybrid thats neither fish nor foul , if I want to go fast ill buy something designed to do so with full effect , I suspect another white elephant unless a large proportion on the parts can be be used in existing cases ?

Whilst I'm sure a lot of blood sweat and tears has gone into this, 9 large is a lot of money. I suspect to much to shift high numbers. this price may have been for the all singing version? my understanding was there was different options available?

Surely this is a racer's dream?
I can't afford £9k on one of these and I'm glad about that. I would surely kill myself on one of these.

As entrancing as the whole concept of a 52hp production 'road' engine is (ludicrous price tag aside) - would you 'really' want a 52hp Vespa or Lammie on the road???...
The fastest & most powerful scooter I own is a Malossi 221 engined Vespa making 31hp - which is great fun to ride & 'imo' pretty much as fast as a road scooter needs to be - and with 10' wheels & a relatively short wheel base, it can be a bit of a handfull & at times catch you out, as it'll hoist the front in the first 3 gears without provocation!
So with these BSG 305 engines putting out a reported 52hp - I just can't help but feel that this would be 'too extreme' to be enjoyable as a road engine
... not saying I wouldn't want to have a go on one mind - and I really admire the concept, design & engineering that's gone into this project & the sheer fact that they've had the balls & ingenuity to see it through into production... but as an ownership prospect???
To look at it from a financial aspect... my 31hp Malossi motor was built from scratch with brand new casings, all new internals & top spec tuning parts - so its basically a brand new engine, in the same guise as the BSG offering is... now this Scooterotica built & tuned engine, inc all parts & labour costs set me back less than £3.5k... and although 'getting on for' three & a half grand is not an 'unsubstantial' sum of money for an scooter engine, in context a BSG 305 motor is gonna set you back a further £5.5k on top of this.... albeit for an extra 20hp - but would you benefit from that extra 20hp on a road going scooter

I hear what your saying and agree to a point. However it does somewhat depend on how the motor delivers it's power.
When I rode the 305 lambretta I did a fare few miles on it and tried it in various aspects. Yes if you open the throttle fully open it pulls your arms off and admittedly its scary but I also rode it at normal road speeds and it rode lovely at those low speeds. It was quite happy to plod along at 30mph in top gear.
As far as the price goes, yes it's high but if you worked out the cost of a full well tuned motor including cases and EVERYTHING in them and added to that a specific exhaust made for that motor along with carb and even fuel tank the price would be well over 5k for a lambretta.
There are no donor parts... its all new!
