"BULLET 305cc Casa Lambretta / BSG Corse engine UPDATE : FIRST RUN!
Well then peeps, where do we start? As most of you will already know, here at RLC we have been busy preparing the ‘Casa Lambretta test scooter’ that has been fitted with the all new 305cc BSG Corse engine. This engine is machined from solid billet and is designed to be the ultimate Lambretta engine. For more technical details & related info, check out previous posts here on the page and on the ‘Rimini Lambretta Centre’ website.
With a BSG tuned 305cc top end, Cyclone Supreme 5 speed gearbox and a fully map-able ignition, big things were expected – especially after it’s ‘sister’ engine, fitted to a Vespa 305cc (it uses the same crank & top end), appeared on the front page of Scootering Magazine and made it’s debut at the Bridlington Trade and Custom show last year. That scooter put out a whopping 51bhp at the rear wheel and could flip the scooter over at 80mph in 4th gear if you were daft enough to crack the throttle open….
On Saturday 14th March 2015 Fabio, Stefano and Alessandro from BSG, arrived at the Rimini Lambretta Centre / Casa Lambretta Rimini workshops to put the final touches to the scooter that RLC’s Mickyboy and Lorenz had been working on for the last couple of weeks. This early Indian GP had been stripped, cleaned up and prepared to take it’s new engine unit. All the scooters components had been upgraded to copy with the expected power increase and the final touch was a huge expansion chamber, designed by BSG and made by 2 stroke exhaust guru Fabio Protti. After a couple of kicks, the scooter fired into life and quickly settled down into an even tick-over. After giving the engine minimal time to free-up and warm to a useable temperature, tuning legend Stefano Scauri took the 305cc Lambretta out for it’s first spin on Italian roads. The Lambretta’s longer wheelbase was immediately noted as an advantage over the BSG 305cc Vespa and it was easier to keep the front end pointed roughly where you intended it to go. That said, the scooter would wheelie off the throttle and the acceleration was blistering to say the least. The afternoon was spent assisting the BSG boys make some changes to the ignition mapping and some minor jetting alterations. The scooter REALLY began to show what is to come, as the new engine components started to bed down and settle in. By the end of the afternoons tests, the scooter was on song and all that was left to do was fit some lights and a number plate so Mickyboy could ride the scooter home and start to clock up some miles in the mountains around the shop.
This he did and after meeting up with him today for a rundown on how things were going, his principal comments was were that it was incredibly easy to use and the only thing to watch was that “the scooter reaches high speeds so quickly that you don’t realise how fast you’re going until you glance down at the SIP speedo / rev counter.”
Need for speed? We are still ‘running in’ the scooter but on the main road alongside the shop, on his way home last night, Mickyboy commented that the scooter was doing 145kph (90mph) when he changed from 4th into 5th gear and when accelerating in 4th, the front wheel was ‘pawing’ the tarmac. Gonna be fun….
We’ll keep you all posted. In the meantime check out the video of the scooter’s first run on Youtube"

The Vespa version of the 305 motor is available to buy now... JB Tuning are advertising them as available to order with delivery quoted @ 8 - 10 weeks.... & (apparently) the asking price for the complete bolt in motor is £9000!!
