Hi all, I've fitted a battery to my Lammy so I can fit a decent 12v horn and an EGT gauge at a later date. I've also fitted a regulator that allows it to trickle charge the battery. I've got the horn working from it and it's sounds great. The original wire to the horn off the loom has been removed and insulated. I've also tried hooking the lights to the battery via the wiring loom. I can get the lights and horn working from it for a while ( doubled up on the yellow wire from the stator to the regulator ) but then it stops working. The loom is designed to run on DC or AC. Is there a way of getting the lights working off the battery or am I barking up the wrong tree? Any advice gratefully received. Thanks in advance Pete.

I'm not certain I understand what you are doing. But if you are powering the headlight from the battery, I would think the batt. power would decay pretty rapid.

I only want to power the side lights without running the engine. The stator would still power the lights with the engine running. Is this possible is what I want to know. Cheers Pete.

I'm confused too, you will need a Wassel single phase rectifier so that the whole output from the stator is converted to DC, Apart from connecting the negative output from the Wassel to earth and the positive to the brown in the loom and the positive battery terminal (neg goes to earth) that's all you need to do. You can reconnect the proper wire to the horn.

As Coaster says...think you are over thinking this...

Connect the batter to the Brown from the loom, and the output from the regulator. You will then have battery power to all circuits without the engine running and you can power any lights you have active.
