It's been a while since I put this in. I don't remember there being a seal on the inside but I found a picture on Torbay Lambretta site that appears to show a plastic part on the inside of the Race Tour bearing.

I'd guess it must be this with a smear of grease on top.
Not so merry christmas

Going back to the scuffing on the case, does it rub with the clutch bell bolted up. I find that the Christmas tree is pulled up away from the rear case but scuffs it with just the backplate on.
Ive seen it before its not ideal maybe the casing was a little high
if it was me I would mark the area with some engineering blue or even a marker pen put it back together and spin it then take it apart and look again

This is the critical question. The Xmas tree will pull up once torqued down correctly.Monty wrote:Going back to the scuffing on the case, does it rub with the clutch bell bolted up. I find that the Christmas tree is pulled up away from the rear case but scuffs it with just the backplate on.

My money says the seal fits on the outside.

Good suggestion but its there. Just the bearing obstructing it from viewrosscla wrote:Is the shim in under the outer bearing race in the casing? Don't see it in the picture?
Might be the roller race is hiding it -
But the track looks a long way in.

Not sure I will check, I was wondering whether this was the cause myself as have been messing around with layshaft shim sizes a lot trying to free up the gear box once the end plate is on
