I have a bit of play on my rear hub, a bit more than I feel is right. Is the cone suppossed to fit into the rear hub and be flush or does it stick out a bit? With the wheel off, when I put the cone into the hub it sitting proud about 5 or 6 mm leading me to wondcer if it is the correct cone for the hub.
Has anyone got a picture of how a correctly fitting cone looks when in situ.
Many thanks
Scott

5 or 6mm sounds a lot to me. From memory the last time I looked it would have been 3 to 4mm.
I just measured 2 hubs one was 4.3mm the other 5.2

Cheers fellas, I have just swapped wheels with my other scoot to rule out the wheel. The wheel fits with no move, net so I am thinking it must be the layshaft, maybe end plate has come loose or something. Will have to open up to investigate

Wear on the layshaft at the endplate end or to the needle bearing or the outer race in the endplate can also cause play at the hub

I'm thinking it could be wear, as I am 100% sure lol will be tight when I open it up. I made sure I tightened endplate up, loctited, belt 'n' braces.rosscla wrote:Wear on the layshaft at the endplate end or to the needle bearing or the outer race in the endplate can also cause play at the hub
