Im missing something, I know I am.
Ordered the leak tester from Darrel on here, just what I need so not the whole kit, ie the bung with valve and the exhaust blank.
Got to a point last night and fitted it and it's not pressurising at all.
So, either i've a massive leak somewhere or looking at the picture of the whole kit, it strikes me that Ive not used any loctite.
Now, Im assuming this is a stupid question, but is it absolutely necessary? Only I thought originally the fact that the rubber gasket being tightened down with the exhaust port blanking plate would be enough to seal that end, and the fact that it's a rubber manifold etc at the inlet end would also be enough?
I was trying to pressurise to 10psi but it wont go near it at all, so im assuming that the loctite / silicone sealant's in order?
Using a leak down tester??

while googling this, it seems that some have used grease as opposed to silicone so i've done that and found my leak.
It's hard to tell though exactly where its coming from? ie its looking like its coming from the upper cylinder stud on the mag side.
However, it's not coming via the base it's between the 1st and 2nd fin.
So, is it a leak via the stud and travelling up past the base gasket seal to the next spot and fixing it simply means removing the stud and replacing with loctite added to ensure no leak or is there something else going on?
Any help appreciated.

I used the innertube / circlip method last week. Worked perfectly well...

We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm

I've got an AF Clubman so I just left the down pipe on and fitted the tube to the end of the pipe. This allowed me to check there was no leak at the exhaust flange.
I made my own leak test kit. to bung up exhaust stubs or any round hole I use the centre parts from sanding drums just grease them tighten the nut and the rubber part expands sealing the hole .there available cheap online
