Exol optima race full synthetic....Is this right?

Was en route to blackpool Friday with me mate when I had a slight mishap. A small bungee broke and I lost my small bag with my medication, waterproof bottoms and my Putoline oil, off my rear carrier. Somewhere between Preston and me digs in Blackpool. At the Blackpool do I managed to get some oil, the Exol optima racing. Now I have a litre of this at home unused and me mate with me also has a four litr container of the said oil and both are red in colour. The stuff I bought when I opened it at my first return journey fuel stop, was a thick treacle black brown colour and stunk like you wouldn't believe. Has the oil been changed or is there something wrong with it. cheers,Speedy.

I would say not. I use it and it's thinnish with a light red colour. I don't think it can have been labelled wrong, because I think the semi is the same. Although it pongs a bit. Could be an error of some sort. I'd return it and get a refund.

I can cofirm that the semi syth I have is also red.

Thankyou both for the replies. It was a concern as it just seemed wrong. I;ve heard it smells a bit ,as do one or two others that are available now , but the colour just didn't seem normal for an oil of any description. I shall now empty my tank and go for fresh fuel and oil just to be safe,cheers,Speedy.

Ironically it ran a bit boggy and rich, but I put it down to a change from a semi synth to a full synth mixed in the tank. When I first used this scoot doing coast to coast, I was being tight and using up all oddments of oil, ie some Putoline mx5 and mx7 at 4% and it was as rich and boggy as owt. Changed to Rock oil pp2 at 4% and still boggy. Dropped to 3% and much better. Then I sheared me crank , so fully rebuilt the motor with GP crank and bgm stator midweight flywheel etc. Ran out of pp2 and bought a bulk case of Putoline tt scooter that I've run me P2 disc on for years and stuck that in. Bit weird this next bit. Put the Putoline in at 3% and hey ho, it's running as crisp as owt and doing another 8 to 10 miles to the tank [standard tank] more than before. . I have no idea why and don't surpose I ever will, but I'm happy

Funny isn't it? You can definitely feel the difference between some oils. Using up the last of some fully synth Exol myself. I was running mine at 4% and still managed to seize it up on a hot day. Cutting back to 3% now to see if that perks it up.

If you go from 4% to 3% oil ration you are making the mixture RICHER, more petrol so cooler running.

The fully synth is red and does indeed smell like ammonia, using less oil makes ur mixture richer as said above

My thoughts exactly. It was a heat seize, so it seemed logical to me. Is it a bad idea then?
