Back firing

My mate had a li150 with6v fitted he had a 12v regulator fitted. Anyway it started back firing. Done a few things to try and cure it before changing to 12v electronic. After fitting we found the origional 12v regulator was blowing the bulbs.could this have been the cause of the backfiring on the 6v system. Just curious that's all.

No, should not be anything to do with the ignition side of things.
