My mate has a 06 px125, we noticed play in hub, when the split pin & nut cover came off the nut was finger tight,do they suffer from wear on splines, i am a Lambretta man, never worked on a Vespa , many thanks.

Look inside the middle of the rear of the hub and check if there is a wear 'ring' on the outer centre of the hub where it fits against the bearing/seal on the layshaft.

If there is a fine ring present, your rear hub will continue to work itself loose.

You are ok to remove this wear ring with a sanding stone, or similar. You need to ensure an even surface when you are finished, so take your time rubbing it back.

The only time I've experienced wear on the splines of a Vespa layshaft is when the rear hub wasn't fastened correctly
