I'm tempted to clean it up and see how it goes with a new piston

I wouldn't be, replate is about £140 + post (unless you live near me, and I can drop it off for you
)
Put it back in as is, feck another pistion, and how many wasted quids will you have
Do it properly.

Or as Hobospeed suggested, clean the piston up (Wet & Dry) and a new set of rings and use the wet & dry to smooth out the edges of the damaged lining. As said, you will loose a little compression but it probably won't make a hell of a lot of difference. It will need sorting properly eventually but you should still be able to get some use out of before then and maybe give you time to budget for it. I ran a Mugello for a few thousand miles with a finger wide gouge out of the lining above the exhaust port. In fact, I did the LCGB Coast to Coast run on it and only retired it in favour of a 225 top end.alanscottj wrote:Think I'll put the engine away and play with me series 2. There are 3 grades of TS1 pistons, A, B and C so you would need to know what you already have, but just how bad is your existing piston? providing the ring lands are ok and the pegs are intact you should be able to file/wet&dry out any high spots, stich a picture up.alanscottj wrote:................I've just seen a 70mm TS1 piston on Beedspeed for £56temptation is there again!!!

Decided to get it re-Lind after all. Called Langcourts and they can do it for £105 as there is no welding required, new piston £56 = £161 or there a outs with postage, I can live with that and the peace of mind that will come with it
thanks for everyone's input, must appreciated as always

I know nothing about these Beedspeed TS1 pistons but I'd do some research before you buy one for that price. Experience tells me that buying cheap usually doesn't work. Also, as you have already a knowledged you need to establish why it seized above all else.
I have a new ts1 piston no rings circlips or geogon pin if you want it its 40 quid posted
