I very much doubt that the stand spring arrangement on my Mark 1 T5 is right - the stand is much too bouncy. The floor has basically been totally replaced by a previous owner.

I only have one spring (and one hole in the crossmember) whereas, I believe, I should have 2 springs and 2 holes in the crossmember.

Is this right and, if so, can you tell me roughly how far apart the holes in the crossmember are please? I am guessing that they are in a sort of > position in relation to the hook on the stand itself.

I hope this makes some sense :? :D

Are you sure you have the correct spring? I have only used one for the last 14 years with no problems

I'll post a picture later. The spring does hold the stand up but if you go over a small pothole, for example, it bounces down and snaps shut.

Pretty sure my T5 Classic only had one spring but it only had a side stand fitted when I bought it and I replaced it with one off an LML. The lad's PX200 has one large diameter spring attached to a small hook in the centre of the cross member and a bracket on the off side of the stand.

I thought I'd read somewhere that they have 2 springs??

I have got one of these on order - maybe it's just a clapped out spring?

yep there was definitely a run of mk1 T5s that had a stand with two brackets for springs - the springs were smaller than those used on the traditional P Range.

the brackets were about 25mm apart.

as to the location of the slot(s) in frame for the s clip I cant remember.

I have used the smaller springs so they didn't foul expansion pipes.

looking at the picture usually a single spring would be further out towards the edge of the legshields.

A decent spring should cure it

Thanks, Gaz. I'll have a mess around when the new spring arrives sometime this week.

Yep, definitely 2 smaller springs on Mk1 T5's.

The stand was different - it didn't have the middle welded 'clip' in the centre of the stand, rather two small holes in the stand brackets for the springs to be located.

I believe this was primarily due to the size of the original T5 Mk1 exhausts, and that one large centre spring fouled/basically didn't fit correctly between the exhaust and frame when the scooter was under load. (I can't comment on how then this centre spring arrangement worked on T5 Classic's as never had a T5 Classic - maybe the original exhausts on Mk1 T5's was different?)

The rear frame member on all my Mk1 T5's have a series of slots for the stand springs (I've counted 5 on at least two) allowing options where the spring clipped into the frame.

Thanks, lads. I think much of my confusion may be that neither of the stands I have used (I replaced the one on it when I bought it as the scooter didn't sit well on it) are original to the machine.

May I ask another question. I don't have items 14 or 18 fitted on my stand (I'm not sure how they fit and what purpose they serve anyway). Should I have them fitted? What purpose do they serve anyway?
