PM Disk question

I ended up with four washers non disk side and one, disk side.

Well, Not much help here from PM tuning.

I ended up just buying a new disk and new brake pads.

My old disk is well and truly fecked.

I`m tyring to figure out why the pads wore out just after 400kms.

First off is that my rotor was mounted backwards compared to the pics on the website but I`m not realy sure that would make a lot of difference to be honest?

Secondly, the new rotor is seriously sharp around the edges and all the grove holes. Now, on my motorbike the holes on the rotor are countersunk slightly so I wonder if I give the rotor a slight de-burr with a dremmel that might help prolong pad life.

What do you think?

Definitely will help.

Braking efficiency is designed by the coefficient of friction between the material of the pads and the disk NOT taking any modifications like holes into account.

The purpose of the holes is twofold: to aid cooling; and to help clear water, mud etc.

Without being able to see and feel the burrs it's hard to be 100% certain but I'd bet my left knacker that you've found the reason for your accelerated wear.

A bit of a balls ache to go round all the edges but you can see the cuts were very serrated, so could be the root of the problem.

I even had to go round the bolt holes and inner circle to get it to fit.
