Check out the GTs Owners Club Forum http://www.gtsownersclub.co.uk/forum for more advice.

But be warned, once you've ridden one the old two-stroke will soon be on ebay!!

Sorry Bryan, you just don't get it. You don't own a classic scoot for sensible, practical reasons.

If i need a two wheeled vehicle that starts on the button every morning without fail, cruises at 85+mph, does 60 to the gallon, is comfortable and has a good dealer network I'll take my motorbike because no matter how good your GTS is (and I do like it), the bike is better.

If I want a stylish vehicle with bags of heritage and sackfulls of character that makes me smile whenever I take it out (until it goes wrong obviously) I'll stick to the Lambretta.

yep thats my thoughts i will have both , but the main point of the questoin was the 300 worth the extra £ for the 28cc increase and it seems it is. If i'm going on a friday to a rally with the club i want to use the lammy , if its a mad dash saturday afternoon after work on my own then i'll use the gts as a breakdown can serously cut into drinking time ;)
Has a mind full of useless s**t and isn't afraid to use it !

I've never tried either but I know quite a few people with them and they seem to think that the 300 may not be worth the extra. It has more torque but the same top end and you dont get a rear rack / carrier which for a "work-horse" i'd say is quite important. You can of course buy one for the 300 but I bet it costs a fair bit.

I also know one person with a GTS that makes my Lambrettas look reliable. It breaks down at least once a week.

After buying a 300 Super in December, the Lammy never saw light of day again. Sold the GP now,and never looked back! The GTS is that good,in my opinion. :smug:

Yep but a motorcycle on a scooter rally is almost as bad as a car/van - at least the GTs is a real scooter and won't make a, let's say two hour ride to Peterborough, into a six hour festival of breakdowns and getting lost like a restored lammy will. :D

These Vespas are good for about 10,000 miles  I've heard of a few that have had plenty of problems and they overtake quite slow, I would not have one. The Yamaha T Max 500cc Is absolutely brilliant, you can ride 500 miles in one day, get off and still feel fresh to go out or whatever, and do it all again the next day. I have the Mk3 T max so I can talk from experience, I love it for doing every day stuff and touring europe etc...also they're good for 100,000 miles or more, great value and do a genuine 100 mph. Anyone who thinks differently has never owned one, ridden one or toured on one. Now, I also love Lambrettas, spend thousands on them and ride them for thousands of miles each year. owning an auto has not put me off my old 2 strokes and never will. :bouncing:

were did you get the figures of 10k miles from ?
i know plenty mine inc that have 20k+ miles on them and some with 40k miles and never needed any major work save the belt rollers and clutch bell
as to the TMAX(automatic motorbike) i rode one ONCE and felt a complete tw@7 on it it went well enought but if i wanted to do a ton id do it on a race track ;) my gts is more than fast enough for what i want sure they dont scream past people 2 up but i doubt any geared scoot would beat me on a long run of say 140 miles due to the fact that i wouldnt have to fill up with fuel and could hold it flat out for near all that time
perhaps you should extol the vertues of you "bike" here http://www.yamahaclub.com/forums/
