Thanks for the link, does the TS250 piston need any work, i.e. re-pegging?
I've found some rather cheap piston kits, have a old 225 barrel in need of a re-bore, a 60mm crank with a 18mm eyed rod and wouldnt mind having a go at an low cost old skool 240.
Ralph Saxelby piston choice.....?

Shouldnt need re-pegging.... the ring pegs run to the top of the cylinder, above the inlet port... I think they are placed at 32mm apart so they shouldnt interfere with standard or even tuned transfere ports...the-brickie wrote:Thanks for the link, does the TS250 piston need any work, i.e. re-pegging?

Great, just ordered one with rings and pin for under £50 inc delivery, result!
Need a rebore so if I gave the campany the piston too they would know the tolerances or would I have to tell them?

You would be best to give the machine shop doing the rebore a specified clearance to work to... I think I used to run mine at between 3.5 to 4 thou clearance...... Some on here would be alot more experienced with these pistons than me and their advice would be far better than mine as its quite while since I have done one of these setups... but if you try using the standard clearance as for the original Suzuki barrel, I think this would be to tight.... All the best mate...the-brickie wrote:Great, just ordered one with rings and pin for under £50 inc delivery, result!

The first time I met ralph was me and a mate went down to the shop (which was locked) and he was working in the back, we banged on the door and his dog nearly came through the shop door glass..he eventually came to the door after my mate rang the land line, he seemed very annoyed us being there..
..my mate explained what work he wanted doing to his engine and Ralph said it was not a problem BUT it wouldnt be cheap and it would be a wait...My mate then said how much would it be to which Ralph repleyed ..If youre asking how much you cant afford it
and ushered us out the shop..my mate just left the engine on the doorshop and said I will ring in a couple of weeks..No Ralph relpied I WILL RING YOU WHEN ITS READY..I nearly pissed me self laughing.
That engine was one of the quickest iron barreled lammy Ive ever ridden, just a shame it was wasted on my mate (fanny)..Ive met him a few times over the years and always found him highly entertaining if not a little odd to say the least..

Ricspeed, gone but never forgotten RIP my friend #59
i meet him a fair few times in the 80,s when i raced he was very dry and extreamly focused on what he was doing ......i think he calls his son that little tw@t or something similar
and i read on some scooter site maybe this one or the lcgb when someone ased for discount on his engine he said" how about i set my dog on you"
