Went out for a spin on Thursday and after about 60 miles I noticed a rattling from under the seat. When I checked the cylinder head cowling was loose. I nipped up the two screws Which go into the flywheel cowling. The cowling is still a little loose and rattling against the inlet manifold. It's a Indian Gp 200. I can't see any other holes where I can put a screw to stop the vibration. Should there be more than two holes to keep the cowling in place?

An 8mm bolt should go through the front of the cowling into an extended cylinder head nut.
There should also be fibre anti-rattle pads on the inside of the cowling too but these are left out on most rebuilds and are not strictly necessary.
Some Indian cowlings actually come with holes for 2 M8 bolts through the front onto extended head nuts, which does suggest that even manufacturers are aware of the frequency of these coming loose.

Cheers Adam. Found the 8mm bolt at the front of the cowling. Looks like the cowling around the bolt had worn proberly due to vibration so I added a washer. Everything nice and tight again. Cheers
I normally weld a repair washer as standard for that reasonGeocamper wrote:Cheers Adam. Found the 8mm bolt at the front of the cowling. Looks like the cowling around the bolt had worn proberly due to vibration so I added a washer. Everything nice and tight again. Cheers

You want to tell that to the fella that rebuilt the engine and put the bits back together. This was all done before I bought it which as you may agree/Not agree is totally out of my hands.
