Having fried a large part of the original loom, I set aside 2 or 3 hours this morning to fit a new Beedspeed loom to my Rally 200.

This was before the swearing began.



I took out the cables and tried taping the loom to a cable outer and tried feeding through from the front and from the back. Whatever I did, it always got stuck near the rear brake. If you get your arm in you can't quite reach what the snag is but if you tap a screwdriver around you can tell that there's probably only a 2cm gap to get it through. Suffice to say, the loom "knots" where the cables join together were way bigger than 2cms.

Are all Vespa frames the same

It sure is a nightmare job you have my sympathies. Did you try feeding in from the horn, the back half of the loom, then feeding up to the headstock the other half. It is truly the worst job on a Vespa.

Yes, did all that. Ended up cutting the loom in two and joining it under the tank

Although I use Beedies Vespa looms, they could do with a lot less hard over taped joints, and about 8 inches off of each spur.
That would make it so much easier.

I fitted a Pascoli loom to a GS160, it was so slim and flexible, it fitted luvverly.

I tape the loom tight ie no spare ends then vaserline the big knuckle of wires, feed from the front getting fingers in where foot brake is feed until i can get hold of loom in frame then i pull while guiding/pushing under brake pedal never had problem always gets through.

That's fine if you have a px , older models have no access to brake pedal hole , as the pedal is on a pivot on side of frame up from floor

I taped up the knuckles of wires to get them as flat as possible. I was going to grease them just before I poked the screwdriver down and guessed the size of the opening. I'd had enough when I realised the size of the gap I had to get it through. Two seconds later, the loom was in two.

On the plus side, I got the wires through the small hole for the rear brake switch very easily - just fed an inner cable through, put it through the sheath and guided it through

Can't see what all the fuss is about just put a new beedspeed loom in a 50 special, no dramas straight in. sorry for gloating
