The only time a fuel pump is needed is when the top of the float bowl of the carburettor is not below the bottom of the fuel tank. The only time that happens on a Lambretta is when it's on it's side or upside down, and then fuel starvation is the least of your worries.

Strange you say that.. because on mine it was when I'd been doing more than about 75mph for more than about thirty seconds with a big Amal on a TS1. No pump.. fuel starvation. With pump.. many thousands of miles with no problems.GP Kevo wrote:The only time a fuel pump is needed is when the top of the float bowl of the carburettor is not below the bottom of the fuel tank. Right, I'm now looking to fit a fuel pump to one of my Lambrettas, which has a long range tank that sits low and a carb that sits high. If fuel level is low and I go anywhere near a hill I run into classic fuel starvation issues. Fill the tank and the bike climbs the same hills without issue. On reserve the tank actually flows faster when full so I know tha ttap function is not the problem.
Who is running what type of pump? Pros /cons?
Thanks
Adam

I ran an electric one a couple of years ago but ran into fuel starvation problems due to the pump draining the battery down even though I had put in a by pass. It got me to the Belgium border before I disconnected it and threw it in a hedge!
Edit: although. Thinking about it now, maybe if I had discontent the video camera, not been charging my phone and turned the lights off it may have got me further tbh.
