Replaced the pick up on my stator after the lightend flywheel damaged it. Started the scooter up and she ticks over fine but open the throttle and it won't rev and sounds very boggy, could the lt coil be damaged too as nothing else has been changed and all earth's are solidly fastend down. What are the symptoms of one. Breaking down.

Cheers

It could be, but at the moment i would look at the alignment of the new pick-up versus the crossover magnets.

The pick up is in the right place but I've now put on my new spare stator on and she's now running okay and thanks for at least taking the time out to answer my question as I was wondering if it's worth posting the question as plenty of looks but no one but you could be bothered to reply. Thanks again.

It would be a good idea to check the coil resistance with a meter. You should see somewhere between 430 and 500 ohms. Also check the security of the Earth tag rivets on the stator core as they are often loose.

Checked the LT coil and it's showing 453 ohms which I think is within limits, it seems to be A bad earth on the pick up as that's showing 1 which I think means a short circuit, so out with the soldering iron.

Agreed, that reading is a bout right but can you explain what you mean about the pickup earth, what did you check to find 1 Ohm?

I checked it at the terminal end, then the end that connects the wire to the pick up and noticed the green from the pick up wasn't as good a connection as it should've been; so I cleaned it up and re- soldered it, and rechecked it all and now it's reading 455ohms Lt coil and 94 ohms on the pick up; I notice that Sticky's book says 95 as a minimum, but I'm hoping it's okay. So another strip down tomorrow and check it in the scooter. By the way it's the first time I've tried to fix a stator so fingers crossed I'll have a working spare. ;)

Just to be clear, the green wire SHOULD be connected to the LT coil, the pickup wire is red ;)

Indian pick ups always read 94 in my experiences,
Original Italian read 112.
