My gp 125 (imola) started ok the other week after a long period of being shed-bound. Last week started after 15 mins, got it to the MOT just about got it home. Changed plug, sparks on engine with HT, but not every kick. Then started but wouldn't turn off with kill switch. Now back to not starting again. Petrol definitely getting there. all wiring looks ok, lights etc all work.
Before i change the HT lead is there anything i should try?
Setup
GP 186 IMOLA, JL pipe, SIL electronic ignition, 1979, no indicators or battery, lightened flywheel, all tuned a few years back my REPLAY. NGK B8ES Chalky added an augusto 8000 and new lightened fly.

Try disconnecting the green wire on the CDI that goes into the loom (not the one from the stator). The switch shuts the engine down by shorting the ignition green to earth so if it runs ok with the wire disconnected it means the switch is faulty and is partially tracking to earth. Not an uncommon fault with Indian switches. Obviously you will need to stall it to stop it.
You could also try some fresh fuel and a new plug.

Thanks Colin, know which lead you mean. Will give that a go.

Depends on your budget, the Casa ones from Scootopia will be good but the ones that MB sells are fine, I've had one in my Jet for a few years with no issues and the ScootRs one in my LiS has also been trouble free. Personally I'd opt for the MB one as it comes with wiring identification and tech support will be available if you get stuckdruist wrote:Starts first time with green wire disabled, so new ignition..

Scootopia's own "osam" marked switches look like the best buy, although I haven't tried one myself.
Thanks Colin And firedp
